Our goal is to influence and contribute to the transformation of the whole funding ecosystem to achieve more and better resources for feminist and women’s rights work. By shifting more power and resources into the hands of diverse women, girls, and gender non-conforming people from rural, remote, and marginalized communities in Fiji and the Pacific, we are opening doors for a more inclusive model of funding in the region.
As a regional women’s fund, JWF’s mandate is to partner with philanthropists and mobilize resources toward efforts advancing women’s and Trans people’s rights. Working with philanthropic organizations, networks, donors and sister funds helps us to champion and advocate for a sustainable and substantial share of funds for resourcing the women's rights movement in the region. Our goal is to influence and contribute to the transformation of the global funding ecosystem to achieve enhanced resources for feminist and women’s rights work. We believe that by shifting more power and resources to the hands of diverse women, girls, and gender non-conforming people in the region, then we will be unlocking resources that will expand the work done through the women's fund ecosystem and transform our work in mutual solidarity with groups who are changing their communities for the better, and in doing so, transforming unequal power relations that perpetuate systems of oppression and destruction.
The influencing philanthropy programs harness a new vision for philanthropy in the Horn of Africa region and create sharing communities of courage and care that provide sustained support to women and non-binary defenders through resources in multiple forms: funds, knowledge sharing, networks, and volunteerism.
